Wedding #1

I made this card for Rod and Karen's wedding tomorrow. I absolutely love how it turned out. I think it's the most beautiful card I've ever made!

Some Things About Me

I've been artistic my entire life. As a little girl, I was creating things with any materials I could get my hands on and that wasn't a lot. I didn't grow up with a TV so I really had to use my imagination.

As a pre-teen, my sister and I led a group of peers to make puppets from scratch and put on puppet shows at the local public library. I loved my cooking, sewing, woodwork and metalwork classes. At one point, I wanted to be a carpenter!

Even though I didn't take art classes in high school (I spent my time studying music), I continued to explore new realms by making bracelets, earrings and hair accessories using embroidery thread, beads, leather and felt. As a counsellor at music camp, I would sneak away and work in the craft room when everyone else was on the water (which I avoided after nearly drowning in the lake).

The only gifts my thrifty mom appreciates are my handmade cards. I've come a long way from using glue, a pair of scissors, pencil crayons, markers and my own penmanship to create cards. I can't remember exactly when I started collecting rubber stamps but it was after my first trip to a stamp store called Great Impressions at Queens Quay Terminal, oh, at least 15 years ago. Then I was hooked and here I am!

I really wish I had more time for sewing, cross-stitching and scrapbooking, too. I have so many unfinished cross-stitch projects laying around and I've only dabbled in scrapbooking when I assemble albums as gifts. The scrapbook layouts I've seen on other blogs are just amazing and I could only wish to come up with something so fancy and colourful.

I'm by no means the greatest stamper out there but I love to learn from others and I'm looking forward to challenging myself and growing as an artist. Hopefully I can inspire a few of you with my ideas, too.

Thanks for looking!
