{Hero Arts} Christmas Crystals + Joy to the World

For Day 5 of Kathy Racoosin's 30-Day Colouring Challenge, I shared this card on Instagram. It features Christmas Crystals, a retired set from Hero Arts. I love the shapes of these crystals and they can even be used as terrariums for so many of the succulent stamps available right now. Since this set is retired, I've included a couple of alternate stamp and die sets in my supply list below.

The crystals were heat embossed and I used daubers to add three different shades of each colour on the crystals, before splattering with water, as well as shimmer mist. I trimmed the crystals with scissors and attached them to the background panel with glue dots. Then I added silver string, sequins and enamel dots for further embellishment.

The sentiment is from a much-loved favourite called Joy to the World, also from Hero Arts.

{Ellen Hutson} Otterly Awesome + Tree Farm

Hi everyone! If you've been following along on Instagram, I'm playing along with Kathy Racoosin's 30-Day Colouring Challenge and these are the cards for today, featuring Otterly Awesome and Tree Farm. My friends Angela, Lindsey and I are all using the same sets all month long for this challenge and it's been so much fun. I urge you to join in and crank up your creative juices!

I coloured all three otter images from Otterly Awesome, as well as the holiday accessories from Tree Farm. Then I paired up the accessories and sentiments with the otters to create two cards for different occasions. I just love how those two sets go so well together!

The first one will be a holiday card and the second will go to my husband on his next business trip.

To create the backgrounds, I used a 4x5 acrylic block and smooshed distress inks on it then misted it with shimmer spray, before placing it against the watercolour panel. Once it dried, I splattered a contrasting colour that was also used to colour the images.

{Neat & Tangled} Floral Heart, Prehistoric + My Favorite Nut

Hi everyone! If you've been following along on Instagram, I'm playing along with Kathy Racoosin's 30-Day Colouring Challenge and these are the cards for today, featuring Floral Heart, Prehistoric and My Favorite Nut. These sets are too cute for words! I'm obviously a huge fan of all things Elena Roussakis. ;)

My son has a stuffed diplodocus named Dippy and it's his most precious stuffie so, naturally, I had to own this set. I had to pair up the dinosaur with the floral heart. I lined the floral heart with fun foam and then lifted just Dippy's head with a piece of foam tape to make it look like he's popping out of the centre of the floral heart. I'll be giving my son this card on the first day of school.

The second card features my all-time favourite squirrel set! The original sentiment is on one line but I broke it up so it could fit into the centre of the floral heart along with the squirrel, whose head I also popped up with foam tape. The little envelope is flat on the panel and the two extra little acorns are also popped up with foam tape.

It was so much fun to colour these floral hearts! I thought it would take a very long time but once I had all the distress inks out, it was easy to create a pattern and vary the colours. I'll save the squirrel card for one of my husband's business trips. I always like to send a bunch of cards with him to ease the stress of being away.
